Trail life. Simple task. Hitch the cord to the tire. Strap the belt around your midsection. Pull the tire through the snow. No magic. No awesome splits. No seminars or training tips needed. You just have to grind. I spent 3 hours and 28 minutes lugging around a giant chunk of rubber thru all kinds of snow conditions. Up hills. Down hills. Groomed. Chopped up. The sun was shining brightly. All I heard was my feet crunching in the snow. That tire whining against the snow and my breathing. I loved every single second of that 10 mile journey. #solitude #peace #grind #tirepull #tirepulling #paytherent #humansleddog #nature #whiteout #lowandslow #crockpotting #zumbro #zumbro100
Trail life. Some firm trail. Some soft trail. Some soft snowshoed trail. Some post holing. Snow is beautiful. But it is a grind both physically and mentally. 10.5 miles. Didn’t break any land speed records but I broke down some serious muscle tissue in my lower hemisphere. #work #snowrunning #postholing #postholingbuildscharacter #cookiesinthejar #friedthighs #mentaltraining #ultratraining #trailrunner #outside #trainhowyourace
Trees have long thoughts, long-breathing and restful, just as they have longer lives than ours. They are wiser than we are, as long as we do not listen to them. But when we have learned how to listen to trees, then the brevity and the quickness and the childlike hastiness of our thoughts achieve an incomparable joy. Whoever has learned how to listen to trees no longer wants to be a tree. He wants to be nothing except what he is. That is home. That is happiness. - Herman Hesse. #trees #nature #happiness
Trail life. Started with a pretty firm trail. From about mile 2.5 to 5 it was a decent into soft, softer, no trail, knee high snow. Turned around. Went right back through it all again. Straight into over 4 miles of hill repeats. The entire run I was mentally running the last 15 miles of a 100 miler. Just visualizing myself keeping my shit together on lap 6 and crossing that line with bad intent. 15.58 miles / 2:48:31 / 1,400 ft elevation. - #zumbro #zumbro100 #d2eambassador #depression2extinction #ultrarunning #ultrarunner #trailrunning #trailrunner #trail #notrail #hillrepeats #snowrunning #snowrunner
